Almost a year after it was launched, the space-age futuristic shooter "Destiny" is set to undergo massive changes due to its next expansion, "The Taken King." The DLC is deemed to be so massive in content that when it rolls out, it will "play like a whole new game altogether," as developer Bungie was quoted as saying.

Building up the hype to its impending release, Bungie took to Instagram to showcase the upcoming new content. According to the posts, new Exotic weapons and items will be available from Agent of the Nine, Xur, when "The Taken King" takes off.

Xur is a vendor in the "Destiny" world who peddles Exotic and rare items, and contrary to other NPC vendor and stores that are always in a designated place at all times, Xur chooses to appear only at certain times and in certain locations.

For the new expansion, Xur will be dealing six additional Exotic items, ranging from armor gears to weapons.

Most noted among these new Exotic items are the weapons, with Bungie overhauling the design and gameplay of each. For example, The Chaperone is a new Exotic shotgun that fires single slugs for precision kills, and in achieving one, will briefly increase the weapon's rate of fire, range, and stability. Equipping the new shotgun will also give Guardians an agility boost.

Additionally, there is also a new Exotic fusion rifle called the Telesto, which fires powerful void projectiles with a delayed blast effect for multikills. Another one, the Sleeper Stimulant, functions more as a heavy weapon than support.

Rounding off the new Exotic items are class-specific gears, with the Empyrean Bellicose helmet for Titans, the Alchemist's Raiment chestpiece for Warlocks, and the Sealed Ahamkara Grasps brass knuckles for Hunters.

"Destiny: The Taken King" is scheduled for release on Sept. 15.
