Right wing Gustav Nyquist will be staying in Motor City as the Detroit Red Wings announced Friday that they will be keeping the Swede after agreeing to a four-year, $19 million deal to avoid arbitration.

Nyquist played in 82 regular season games for the Red Wings last season and had 54 points (27 goals, 27 assists).

According to NHL.com, the 25-year-old is Detroit's top-goal scorer in the previous two seasons as he scored 55 goals since the 2013-14 season where he netted 28 goals.

"We're very happy to have Gustav locked up for four more years. He's quickly become an important part of our team, and is a critical piece to the Red Wings' future. He is just now entering the prime of his career," Red Wings general manager Ken Holland stated.

The Red Wings selected Nyquist 121^st overall in the 2008 NHL Draft and he made his debut in the 2011-12 season.

In a total of 179 regular season games played, Nyquist scored a total 115 points (59 goals, 56 assists).

Nyquist has been an important piece for Detroit especially during the team's playoff campaigns.

Since making his debut for the Red Wings he played in 30 playoff games and has seven points (three goals, four assists).

Along with the signing of Nyquist, the Red Wings also had other roster moves and a new coach.

ESPN reported that the team also announced the hiring of Mike Kadar as their new strength and conditioning coach.

Detroit also added veterans this free agency acquiring defenseman Mike Green and forward Brad Richards.

Green is a 10-year veteran who played for the Washington Capitals in his entire NHL career.

Last season the 29-year-old scored 45 points (10 goals, 35 assists) in 72 regular season games but was limited to only two assists in 14 postseason appearances.

Meanwhile Richards, a 14-year veteran, has played for the Tampa Bay Lightning, Dallas Stars, New York Rangers and won his second Stanley Cup last season with the Chicago Blackhawks.
