"Diablo 3" has reached another landmark after sales of the game have now eclipsed the 30 million units mark.

It took "Diablo 3" just a little over three years to reach the landmark number, as the game originally debuted back in May 2012.

According to the game's publisher, Activision Publishing, Inc., the 30 million mark accounts for the worldwide sales of "Diablo 3."

Making the 30 million mark even more impressive is the fact that "Diablo 3" just shattered its own record that it set last year after sales for the game exceeded 20 million units. After "Diablo 3" topped the 20 million barrier, it became the best-selling PC game in history, according to Polygon.

There is still some confusion about the historic number, however, as Activision has not clarified if the figure accounts only for sales of "Diablo 3" itself, or if it also includes the numbers tallied for its expansion "Reaper of Souls."

In related news, a new patch is now scheduled to come out for "Diablo 3."

Patch 2.3.0 for "Diablo 3" will be changing some of the vital in-game systems, particularly in the areas of bounties and crafting.

First off, bounties will be less problematic to deal with. With the latest patch, players will now no longer need to fiddle around with the game's menu or even reset "Diablo 3" just to get the bonus rewards they have earned, thus cutting significant minutes from game time, according to PC Games N.

Next up, crafting is being tweaked by making everything simpler for players. Sorting through materials and recipes will be easier to pull off now with patch 2.3.0 and even Legendaries will drop their very specific requirements for particular materials.

In addition to the changes being made to bounties and crafting, two Hellfire quests are also being tweaked with the latest patch. The two Hellfire quests have been changed to make them not as luck-dependent as before. The items players get for completing them are also guaranteed to come with gem slots.

No specific release date has been announced for patch 2.3.0.
