The much-anticipated return of the "Digimon" franchise gets nearer and nearer, with the new installment getting a new trailer.

The trailer, shown during the recent Digimon Adventure Festival, showcases some of the destined children and their partner Digimons in scenes straight from the first film of the "Digimon Adventure Tri" series. In the video, the destined children are going about their lives, and as the series takes place at least 10 years after the events in the original "Digimon" title, all of the children are now young adults and studying at a high school. Apart from a brief glimpse into the destined children's high school life, the footage also shows a sequence where Digivolved Kuwagamon and Greymon are battling it out on a real-world airport runway.

"Digimon Adventure Tri" is an anime that will get shown in six parts. However, instead of the usual anime treatment to be shown on TV, the six-part series will be featured in selected theatres as full films. The first anime movie of the six, "Reunion," is scheduled to be shown in 10 theatres with a three-week engagement when it is released on Nov. 21.

The first release will also coincide with the rollout of the first part of the "Digimon Adventure Tri" films on special edition Blu-ray and iTunes. Meanwhile, the retail Blu-ray and DVD copies of "Reunion" will go on sale on Dec. 18.

Other planned releases to commemorate the return of the franchise include a 15th Anniversary Blu-ray box in Regular and "Jogress" Editions of the previous "Digimon Adventure 02," slated to be released on March 2 next year.

In addition to the new trailer, the recent Digimon Festival also introduced a new poster for the "Digimon Tri" series. The featured image shows the new forms for Gabumon and Abumon, along with grown-up Tai and Matt.
