More and more stars are becoming part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Martin Freeman, who portrays Dr. John Watson in "Sherlock," is joining "Captain America: Civil War," while Benedict Cumberbatch, who portrays Sherlock Holmes in the same BBC TV series, is suiting up as "Doctor Strange." 

Now, there's word that "True Detective" star Rachel McAdams will star opposite Cumberbatch in the upcoming Marvel movie. Coincidentally, the actress played the role of Irene Adler in the "Sherlock Holmes" movies that starred Marvel's very own Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr., as the detective. 

McAdams is said to be considering the role of the female lead in the "Doctor Strange" movie, but told Los Angeles Times, "It's still super-early days, and I don't know where that's gonna go — if it's gonna go anywhere at all." 

Before the interview, there were already rumors flying around that she will play the role of Clea, the titular expert surgeon's love interest. As per Ace Showbiz, Clea is a sorceress who happens to be the niece and follower of Strange's nemesis, Dormammu, a master of dark magic.

McAdams underlined that she is not a "comic book snob," adding that she is open to the prospect. During the chat, she also talked about almost starring in "Iron Man." As per Slash Film, she was supposed to star as Pepper Potts — a role Gwyneth Paltrow eventually landed — but turned it down. 

"It's often out of my own insecurity. If I'm picky, it's for that reason. I want to be able to bring my best to the table. So if I'm not connecting to something, then I'm not gonna hold up my end of the bargain, and that's really embarrassing," she explained. 

If the talks end up putting her in the comic book adaptation, she will join the ranks of Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman and Elizabeth Olsen who all stepped into the world of Marvel. 

"Doctor Strange" will hit the silver screen on Nov. 4, 2016.
