'Doctor Strange' updates: First trailer to be released on April 12
"Doctor Strange" and "Captain America: Civil War" will kick off Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and according to a report from Collider, in next week's run of "Jimmy Kimmel Live," Benedict Cumberbatch will appear to debut the first official trailer of "Doctor Strange."
Each day, from April 11 to 14 there will be a different batch of guests from the MCU to discuss "Doctor Strange" and "Captain America: Civil War." Cumberbatch is scheduled to appear on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on April 12, Tuesday, to present the world premiere of his film's trailer and to give a little insight into the plot and characters.
Along with the announcement of the trailer's release, Marvel Studios also released a brand new promo photo of Cumberbatch as the titular Doctor Strange. Filming for his scenes appear to be complete as Cumberbatch has already moved back to London to begin filming for season 4 of "Sherlock."
It is undetermined at this point if the trailer will only be a short teaser, less than a minute long, or if it will be a full-length trailer that runs for two or two and a half minutes. What is expected is a trailer that will give a good look at Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange before and after gaining his powers, as well as a first good look at the film's villains.
With "Doctor Strange" launching its trailer on Tuesday, the other days of the week will be filled with the members of Team Captain America on Monday and Team Iron Man on Wednesday. However, Emily VanCamp is scheduled to appear with Team Iron Man instead of Captain America's (Chris Evans) group, hinting she will switch sides in the film.
Thursday, April 14, will see Chris Hemsworth appear on the show and it is speculated he will give some insight into "Thor: Ragnarok" without releasing a proper trailer yet. Concept art and casting announcements may be released during his time on the show.
"Doctor Strange" opens in theaters this Nov. 4 while "Captain America: Civil War" opens this May 6.
