'Downton Abbey' season 5 spoilers: Scandals, secrets and fire hinted in latest trailer

Sex scandals and fire, that's not really a good combination, but that's how "Downton Abbey" season 5 will be—full of thrills and danger. The trailer for the upcoming season has been released and it's a very shocking peek into what the new season will be about.

The trailer shows several hot and steamy scenes. There's one with Jimmy Kent, who looks like he was caught in the act having a hookup with someone (speculated to be Lady Anstruther). And then there's Tom Branson kissing a mystery woman. Lady Mary Crawley will also have her steamy scene in season 5 as well, says E! Online.

But apart from the romance, there's something changing in season 5, which is highlighted by the brief conversations of the characters in the trailer. "The world is changing," says Lady Edith. What's changing exactly? That's something to be discovered in the season itself.

However, Mrs. Hughes does share something about this change, "Downton is catching up with the times that we live in," referring to modernization, more or less. "That is exactly what I'm afraid of," Mr. Carlson replies.

Meanwhile, season 5 has plenty of secrets to unravel. Mrs. Hughes says in the trailer, "I have a secret. A bad secret." And in another scene, "This house has no secrets," says Thomas. Further, the Earl of Grantham is worried that his grandchild might be stolen from him. Why? Another secret, perhaps.

Also in the trailer, it was seen that a man was carrying someone out of a room engulfed with flames, does this mean that Downton Abbey will burn down? That's another secret to be revealed when the show returns.

"Downton Abbey' Season 5 will return on September 21 in the U.K. and January 5, 2015 in the U.S.
