The Robertson family celebrated Independence Day in season 8 episode 2 of "Duck Dynasty" titled "Induckpendence Day." The episode focused on two main events: an early Independence Day celebration with fireworks, and Uncle Si being honored at a newly opened military museum exhibit.

The premiere episode focused on John Luke and Mary Kate's wedding which was a highlight starter for the new season, and episode 2 took it up a notch by focusing on the Fourth of July celebrations. According to The Hollywood Gossip, the episode might have been shot way ahead of the month of July and could all be scripted and staged.

It doesn't really matter, says the report, because the show is after all about the Robertson family and the episode gave a genuine look at the boys having fun with Jase testing fireworks and Uncle Si being commemorated and celebrated for his service during the Vietnam War.

Jason "Jase" Silas Robertson got a whole package of fireworks as a gift and intended to use them for Willie's Independence Day party so he brought along Godwin and Jep to help set them up. This, of course, meant spending a lot of time just fooling around and trying some of the explosives for fun, all to Miss Kay's dismay.

On the other side of the episode is Uncle Si Robertson, Phil's brother and Vietnam War veteran. The local branch of the Veteran's Affair just opened a military museum exhibit dedicated solely to Si. A good portion of the episode focused on Uncle Si's heartfelt speech that was sparesly interjected with joking jabs at Willie and Alan.

Si was also delighted to get around to driving a military M35 2.5-ton cargo truck aka a deuce-and-a-half truck. As pointed out in a review by TVOvermind, it's one of the moments in the series that shows genuine emotions and isn't just a step-by-step follow through of scripted events.
