Duck Dynasty Sadie Robertson: 'People tell me not to turn out like Miley Cyrus'
Sadie Robertson, the sixteen year old starlet of A&E's hit reality TV show Duck Dynasty, has spoken out about her faith, saying that God is "at the top" of everything she does.
The show focuses on the Robertson family – Phil, Miss Kay and their children and grandchildren – and their homegrown business, 'Duck Commander', which makes duck callers for hunters.
The Robertsons are devoted Christians and have caused some controversy for being uncompromising in their beliefs on camera.
Phil Robertson was suspended from the show in December last year after making what were considered to be anti-homosexual comments in GQ magazine, but after much protest he was later reinstated by the network.
Sadie is the latest member of the family to hit the headlines, asserting that she won't go the same way as troubled young stars like Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus. She believes that her faith keeps her grounded and will always be her first priority.
"The world can influence you in some bad ways. I know I couldn't do it by myself and my family reminds me why I'm doing this," she told Fox411.
"We wouldn't have anything that we do have if it weren't for God and we have to give Him the glory for everything.
"I get a tweet at least once a day that says, 'I hope Sadie Robertson doesn't turn out like Miley Cyrus.'
"When you're famous you do get so much attention that I can see how you could just think the world of yourself, [but] I think if you go into it thinking that this is not for me, that this is for God, you'll be okay."
The family firmly believe that Duck Dynasty is a God-given opportunity to share their faith with the world, and Sadie says the show has "done a good job of getting out God's message".
"We could have easily done a reality show like everyone else. But it's our faith that catches people's eyes because sadly, it's not something we're used to seeing these days," she adds.
Sadie is keen to share her journey with other young people, and now has a YouTube channel with fellow reality TV star Kolby Koloff of 'Preachers' Daughters'. The two regularly post videos in which they discuss their faith and how to stand for Christ in an increasingly secular culture. The young Robertson has also launched a modest prom dress clothing line which she calls "daddy approved".
"I think people use fame as an excuse to lose their faith," Sadie finishes.
"Faith is obviously my number one priority and I think you need to put God at the top of everything you do."
