Duck Dynasty's Si Robertson stars in Faith of Our Fathers, says movie honours US military and their families
Duck Dynasty's Si Robertson stars in the new faith-based war movie called Faith of Our Fathers, and he has expressed pride in being a part of a film that promotes patriotism.
Si believes the movie is important because it shows the many sacrifices made by the men who fought in wars. "So many young men who went to Vietnam never came home," Si told Breathe Cast. "Hey, they left families behind who never got to know those great guys."
And Faith of Our Fathers does its best to honour the men who gave up their lives for their country. It is set in 1969 during the Vietnam War, where two young fathers report to duty - one father who has strong faith and the other a cynic. Years later, their sons Wayne and John Paul meet as strangers and they form a friendship as they try to retrace their fathers' footsteps.
"This story is about two sons on a road trip to learn about their dads. It's a story about Vietnam, but it happens in all wars, and I'm proud to be part of a film that helps bring peace to people," explained Si.
The movie will premiere on July 1 as Americans commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. Aside from Si, Stephen Baldwin, Candace Cameron Bure, David A.R. White, and Kevin Downes will also star in the film.
Faith of Our Fathers is produced by Downes Brothers in association with Pure Flix, and is directed by Carey Scott. According to the producer Bobby Downes, the movie is both uplifting and encouraging.
"From Vietnam battlefields to emotional battlefields of today, Faith of Our Fathers shows the power of faith in God to transform lives," Downes said, adding that it "is an important journey - one that brings honour and, hopefully, healing to vets and families affected by their great sacrifices."
