'Dying Light' DLC news: The Following to release in first quarter of 2016
Fans of the survival zombie apocalypse title "Dying Light" have been waiting anxiously for its expansion. Although it has been a few months since it was revealed by developer Techland, "Dying Light: The Following" still doesn't have an exact release date, and fans have been scouring online for any details.
The most recent glimpse of the upcoming expansion's launch is a release window given by Techland itself. Industry follower Gamespot mentioned in a report that the developer announced the expansion to be coming out in the first quarter of 2016. This means that fans can expect "The Following" sometime between January and March.
Although it seems that it has been a long time in development, releasing the expansion for "Dying Light" next year instead of towards the end of 2015 is an advantage for fans of the title. According to Techland, the development period and the 2016 outing give them more time to fine-tune the expansion and "put in all the content and surprises we have planned."
While there are still no official releases yet on what the expansion entails, Techland released some glimpses of the upcoming DLC. In a demo presentation last August at this year's Gamescom event, Techland revealed that The Following will introduce fully customizable dune buggies and other new vehicles to the game. The expansion will also add a host of new items, including weapons and gear.
The DLC will give a new meaning to the term "expansion." According to Yibada, one of the new things that "The Following" will introduce is a massive open field area, where players must traverse and trample upon hordes of zombies either walking or through weaponized vehicles. This is different from the cliché zombie survival areas (including the base game "Dying Light") of players trying to survive in an urban setting.
Meanwhile, although "Dying Light" includes Linux as a compatible platform, The Following will only be an exclusive for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
