Since "Elder Scrolls Online's" release back in 2014, it has not gotten much attention as developers Bethesda expected. However, with the slow and steady rise in player number, the company has found their footing in the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) genre, and they are allowing everyone a free trial.

The week-long trial has already started and will end by Dec. 6. Until then, the game will be free to download and play for both the PC and PlayStation (PS) 4 versions of the game. To boot, Bethesda is also throwing in a bonus of 500 crowns, the in-game credits bought with money, that players can automatically use in the game's store.

PC gamers can download "Elder Scrolls Online" on either Steam or the PlayStation Store depending on their platform. Note, however, that the download will reach up to 80 GB, so it may take a little while depending on internet speeds. Given that the "Elder Scrolls" has always been a big game with numerous features and classes, putting it online would undoubtedly make the file size even bigger.

As the usual for many free trials, if gamers decide that they like the game and buy it afterward, their characters will still be there. Gamers who buy it before the trial ends even get a discount when they purchase the game. It is currently priced at $9.99 for both PS4 and PC.

The free trial does not exactly restrict access to most features in the game. Unfortunately, the "Elder Scrolls Online" Morrowind expansion is not included in the free trial of the popular MMORPG title.

Bethesda announced earlier that they have gotten around 10 million active players. After this trial, it would be no surprise to see that number rise.
