'Elementary' season 4 spoilers: Series may bring back Natalie Dormer

Elementary - Natalie Dormer as MoriartyCBS

During the New York Comic-Con panel for "Elementary," executive producer Rob Doherty and the cast (courtesy of Entertainment Weekly) revealed a few spoilers regarding the show's upcoming fourth season.

In particular, they discussed the possible return of Natalie Dormer as Moriarty and the complications Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) will be facing in the new season regarding his father's arrival and his recent relapse.

Miller explained that Sherlock may relapse again, explaining that while drug addiction can be handled, it is still a problem that "will never go away." He also explained that it is a storyline that they can revisit several times because drug addiction isn't just form of antagonist that can be done with and forgotten.

Because of Sherlock's new state of mind, he and Watson (Lucy Liu) will develop a much stronger, deeper bond. Liu emphasized this during the panel by stating that Watson and Sherlock's relationship have developed beyond the boundaries of Watson merely being his sober companion and guardian.

In regard to the return of Natalie Dormer, Doherty explained that the main roadblock was her busy schedule. Dormer had been busy filming "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" and she is a regular cast member on "Game of Thrones" as Margaery Tyrell. She is also writing and producing a film.

"Natalie has proven to be as elusive as Moriarty," explained Doherty. "Actually, we had the opportunity to talk a few weeks ago, to discuss a few possible scenarios for a return... but it presents obviously some logistical problems for us. But we'll stay in touch and see what we can cook up."

Jonny Lee Miller then added that the "Elementary" team would be working all year round, meaning there would still be time for Dormer to shoot a few scenes once she is done working on all her current projects.

"Elementary" season 4 premieres this Nov. 5 on CBS.
