Sherlock Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) and Joan Watson (Lucy Liu) will take on a new case involving a murdered archeologist in the upcoming episode of the CBS series "Elementary."

In "The Games Underfoot," Hollywood Hills reports that the pair will be tapped to investigate why an archeologist turns up dead while manning his latest excavation. Holmes and Watson believe it's possible that he had discovered something that alerted bad people. His quarry is located at a local landfill and it looks like there is more than meets the eye on this case. Meanwhile, Holmes will also be dealing with Alfredo Llamosa (Ato Essandoh). Viewers have witnessed the brewing fight between their favorite investigator and his former Narcotics Anonymous sponsor. Will the tension between them come to heed in the upcoming installment?

Alfredo was one of Holmes' few true pals. In the past, Holmes decided to fire the professional lock picker as his sponsor so that he could help him as a friend. Alfredo was street smart and he understood Holmes' idiosyncrasies. At 19, he was already using drugs. He himself had a good sponsor, and this inspired him to become one. The two met while attending a group support meeting. Holmes asked him to be his sponsor, but later changed his mind. Alfredo went to his house and after bonding over a shared hobby of lock picking a car, their friendship was made.

Aside from the tension between Holmes and Alfredo, viewers will also see how the growing animosity between Watson and Detective Gina Cortes (Monique Gabriela Curnen) develop into an all-out cat fight. The lady cop did not hold back in showing her dislike for Watson last episode and spent most of the time harassing her. She also had the annoying habit of questioning Watson about her personal life. Previously, they decided to settle their differences in a boxing match, wherein Watson emerged as the winner.

While Cortes appeared to have taken the loss in stride, she can still make trouble for both Holmes and Watson. She has begun her investigation on how the pair managed to get their jobs back at the New York Police Department. It remains unclear, though, why she has a bee on her bonnet over Watson, but viewers can expect that she will be playing a key role for the remainder of the season.

"Elementary" season 4 episode 5 will air on Dec. 10 at 10 p.m. EST on CBS.
