"The View" hosts were talking about United States Vice President Mike Pence's faith when Joy Behar made a controversial comment about mental illness.

Co-host Sunny Hostin said she does not appreciate Pence speaking in tongues, even though she is a person of faith, according to Charisma News. "When you have a Mike Pence who now puts this religious veneer on things and who calls people values voters, I think we're this a dangerous situation. Look I'm Catholic. I'm a faithful person, but I don't know that I want my vice president, um - speaking in tongues and having Jesus speak to him," she said.

Behar then added that she finds it weird when people hear messages from God. "Like I said before, it's one thing to talk to Jesus. It's another thing when Jesus talks to you," she said, adding that hearing messages from God is a form of "mental illness."

When TV personality Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who was a former host of "The View," heard Behar's comment, she didn't write about how offended she was on social media or criticize the host.  Instead, she decided to reach out to her.

She shared their "Godversation" by posting a video on Instagram (@elisabethhasselbeck) and revealed how it got off to a rather funny start. She called Behar up and was asked by the fiery View presenter, "Who the heck is this anyway?"

She replied, humorously, "Joy, it's God calling. Can you hear me?" The two ladies then shared a laugh.

"What came after laughter and a quick catch up was a conversation without condemnation. She heard why I 'hear God' in prayer, in quiet time, through a friend's discernment, through the power of the Holy Spirit in the nudges that I feel each day, in the longings of my heart, in the questions in my heart. And I heard her questions. And I want to hear her doubts. I love that we are in a country that was founded on freedom in faith," Hasselbeck continued in the video.

In the caption, Hasselbeck explained that her first thought was to react and defend God, since a lot of Christians were being mocked for believing in Him and hearing from Him. But God reminded her that He is the Defender, and even though He was criticized, God cares for Joy too.

"For 10 years she and I debated, and reacting in those situations perhaps I could have offered a more tender witness to this awesome God - instead many times - I reacted. Did I always show grace...sometimes not. And sometimes I felt the need to stand firm and be bold... For now, I pray to always be able to have grace filled #Godversations like this, and I know for sure God wants us to love one another above all. Even when we disagree," she wrote.
