The Council for World Mission (CWM) and the communication center of the Presbyterian Church Taiwan organized the "CWM South East Asia Media Evangelical Seminar" in Taiwan on Feb 26-28, , altogether 45 media related professionals from Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and Myanmar joined.

The Council for World Mission, established in its present form on July 18, 1977, is a further development of the work done previously by the London Missionary Society (1795-1966), the Congregational Council for World Mission (1966-72), and the Council for World Mission (1972).

Media is developing in a rapid way in the last decade, obviously the quality of media is improving, for example, the visual and sound effects are getting better and better. However, the contents of the media are deteriorating, many people worry about the media imposes immoral influence on youth attitudes and culture.

According to the statistics, there were over 12 million internet users in Taiwan last year. In Hong Kong, there are TV and movies broadcast on transportation. Therefore many churches are concerning the possibility of using media to evangelise. Evangelism and media have close relationship with each other in this informative era.

In this seminar, they mainly discussed on how should a Christian view and react towards the messy media. And how should we use the viewpoint of faith to look at immoral culture, media ethics issue.

At the end of the seminar, it was confirmed once again the importance and true meaning of using media as the tool of expanding God’s Kingdom. “We hope to merge the Christianity faith into the media, and avoid the badmoral atmosphere came in.” one participated expressed.

This seminar is very meaningful since many media professionals from South East Asia were united spiritually and it provides a good opportunity for them to have deep understanding of each other. Famous Taiwan gospel radio gospel such as GOOD TV, Overseas Radio and Television Inc. and Goodnews Broadcasting Association also joined this seminar.
