The next expansion for Bethesda's post-apocalyptic role-playing game, "Fallout 4," is set to arrive on May 19.

Dubbed the "Far Harbor" DLC, the expansion introduces a number of new missions, content, in-game items, and features for players. In an announcement by Bethesda, the synopsis reads, "In Far Harbor, a new case from Valentine's Detective Agency leads you on a search for a young woman and a secret colony of synths. Travel off the coast of Maine to the mysterious island of Far Harbor, where higher levels of radiation have created a more feral world. Navigate through the growing conflict between the synths, the Children of Atom, and the local townspeople."

This means that players will be given choice-driven missions, with the fate of the island and its inhabitants ultimately depending on the selections that the player makes while completing missions related to the expansion.

The developer also highlighted "Far Harbor" as one of the most detailed expansion that the studio has ever created, featuring "the largest landmass for an add-on that Bethesda Game Studios has ever created, filled with new faction quests, settlements, lethal creatures and dungeons." According to some, the locations in "Far Harbor" are actually based on real-world areas, particularly Bar Harbor, surrounded by Arcadia National Park and the Atlantic.

"Far Harbor" releases for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Meanwhile, to prepare for the new expansion, Bethesda will also roll out a new patch for "Fallout 4." The new update, patch 1.5, is ready to roll out on May 7. It will be released on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.

The new update introduces tweaks and improvements for the game, as well as new features. Most anticipated is the introduction of Survival Mode, a revamped version that now adds more challenges and a number of in-mission achievement pointers while players are out in the Wasteland.
