There may be several rumors circulating online but in the midst of all that, one thing is for sure: "Far Cry 5" is finally coming to town. When it will be arriving is still in question, though, but at least fans of the game finally have something to look forward to. This confirmation of a new "Far Cry" installment is made true thanks to a recent Ubisoft earnings report.

According to GameSpot, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot acknowledged the latest installment for "Far Cry" along with several other popular game franchises like "Assassin's Creed," "South Park" and "The Crew" during the earnings report early this May. However, it may or may not happen between 2017 and 2018. Besides that, there is nothing known yet about "Far Cry 5" but there are rumors going around online about where the game will be set.

"Far Cry" has basically taken everyone to a wide range of settings and with the release of "Far Cry: Primal," which took everyone back to the Stone Age, it's hard to predict which timeline the new installment will be taking place in. However, based on the rumors circulating in the internet, it is speculated that "Far Cry 5" will be set in 19th Century America focusing on a western setting. There may be a strong possibility for a "Far Cry" game to have a western setting because according to fans, a survey was released by Ubisoft following the launch of "Far Cry 4" indicating a 19th Century western option as a choice for future settings.

The latest installment from the series is "Far Cry: Primal" which was released last 2016 and had taken place in a prehistoric setting. But before that, previous Far Cry games were set in present time which means anything can happen in "Far Cry 5."

Ubisoft has yet to confirm the validity of these rumors, but the company did promise to reveal more about the game soon.
