'Fast and Furious 8' movie sequel news: Vin Diesel shares details
New York City may be seeing several flying supercars soon.
During his interview with Jimmy Kimmel to promote the "Furious 7" film, actor Vin Diesel shared some information about the future of the "Fast and Furious" franchise.
According to the actor, the eighth installment of the action-pack film series will be set in New York.
Diesel dished the information as he was telling Kimmel about Kurt Russell's participation in the film.
"Kurt Russell came in for this movie," the "Fast and Furious" star told Kimmel. "But we really hired him because of a story that follows this that takes place in New York."
Russell joined the cast as a government agent whose identity is still unknown. He also appeared in the late night show a day after Vin Diesel's interview and discussed his character's identity. "We created somebody that I think is a mystery man," Russell said. "You never know his name. You never know quite what world he's in. And we don't, and I think that's what's exciting about it." His shady character called Mr. Nobody is also one of the film's antagonists in the current movie.
The soon-to-be released "Furious 7" film revolves around the events that take place during the prequel phase of the "Fast and Furious" series right after Han (Sung Kang) was murdered during "Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift."
Diesel's character, Dominic Toretto, is tasked to gather the rest of the Family to conquer Owen Shaw's (Luke Evans) avenging brother Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham).
Joining the cast of "Furious 7" are "Game of Thrones" star Natalie Emmanuel, MMA superstar Ronda Rousey, "Guardians of the Galaxy" star Djimon Hounsou, as well as "Ong-bak" series lead star Tony Jaa.
The movie will also feature the last appearance of the late Paul Walker, who passed away in the middle of the film production.
April 3 marked the international release for "Furious 7".
