While AMC's "The Walking Dead" is on a break as it gets ready for season 8, its spin-off series will be returning to the small screen this summer, and a new trailer has been released to tease what the viewers can look forward to in "Fear the Walking Dead" season 3.

Although the gang seemed to have went their separate ways in season 2, it looks like they will be reuniting in the third season. In the trailer, Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) is seen looking back at her decision to kill Andres (Raul Casso) in order to protect Travis (Cliff Curtis); Nick (Frank Dillane) and company getting out of a tunnel only to come face-to-face with a horde of zombies; and Madison (Kim Dickens) stabbing a character in the eye, who looks like new cast member "Teen Wolf" star Daniel Sharman.

According to Screen Rant, it is apparent in the show's thematic direction, and especially with the trailer taglines "face what you fear" and "fear what you become," that viewers will be seeing history repeat itself. The spin-off series is likely to follow the path of "The Walking Dead" wherein the main characters evolve from survivors of a zombie apocalypse into cold-blooded killers. This is already becoming evident in the trailer, in which Madison, who used to be a guidance counselor before the outbreak, savagely stabs a man in the eye.

In other news, "Fear the Walking Dead" season 3 will be the last for showrunner David Erickson as he is eyeing to pursue other projects with AMC. However, the network has reportedly signed on the show for a fourth season, but by then, it will have "Once upon a Time" producers Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg behind it.

"Fear the Walking Dead" season 3 premieres Sunday, June 4, on AMC.
