'Final Fantasy 7' remake news: What the most recent trailer reveals

"Final Fantasy V7"Square-Enix

The "Final Fantasy 7" remake has been a popular topic recently, but is there more to be learned about the game than what Square Enix has already announced?

The answer to that question would seem to be yes, and the folks at GameXplain have released a new video pointing out some of the most interesting changes that may be included in the remake.

First off, GameXplain's video points to the subtle changes made to Barrett's appearance. In the original game, Barrett was a hulking figure with a physique that would not be out of place at a bodybuilding competition. In the trailer, Barrett's physique is noticeably less gigantic, although still quite muscular, and it's unclear if the same tweaks are in line for the other characters in the game.

Kotaku also points to the better entrance given to the game's first boss as a positive. More detailed additions such as that being added as preludes to big fights could be something new that fans can look forward to in the remake.

Also seen in the video are the wider streets of Midgar. The original game depicted a somewhat cramped Midgar locale, but thus far, it looks as though the environments have been made wider, and that may be due in part to the gameplay changes.

One thing that seems to be all but guaranteed at this point is that the battle system for the "Final Fantasy 7" remake will be different from the one featured in the original game.

GameXplain pointed to new meters that seemingly served as triggers for special attacks during battle, and it's unclear if that will be an actual feature of the "Final Fantasy 7" remake.

The "Final Fantasy 7" remake will feature a wide variety of changes, including the plans to release the game in multiple parts.

In a post on the Square Enix blog, the game's producer Yoshinori Kitase justified the decision by indicating that releasing the "Final Fantasy 7" remake this way would enable them to give fans an even better experience.

Time will tell if the planned changes for the "Final Fantasy 7" remake turn out to be welcome additions.
