Video game developer Square Enix promises to release a ton of downloadable content (DLC) for the role-playing video game "Final Fantasy XV." Episode Ignis will be out on Dec. 13, and three more significant DLCs will be released in 2018; one of them is Episode Ardyn.

The three DLCs that are set for a 2018 release will feature individual characters stories, just as previous DLCs have focused on one particular character or aspect in the "Final Fantasy XV" universe. Following this pattern, Square Enix confirmed that Episode Arydn would focus on the villain Ardyn.

This is a chance for Square Enix to expand the character development and backstory for the villain. It is also expected to give players an insightful glimpse into the character's true motivations.

Likewise, the Dec. 13 release of Episode Ignis will tell players the story about Ignis, an important party member in the main story.

The story is expected to take place sometime before the finale of the main game. However, the trailer also shows scenes of a massive invasion, which indicates that the DLC will take players through events from different time periods in the "Final Fantasy XV" universe.

While there is no confirmation about the other two DLCs to be released in 2018, speculation is strong that Luna will get an episode similar to Ardyn and Ignis. "Final Fantasy XV" director Hajime Tabata told IGN in an interview that he would like to see more stories about Ardyn and Luna, describing both as "incredibly key characters" to the game's story.

Meanwhile, the multiplayer-focused DLC "Comrades" still proves to be a popular addition to the role-playing video game. In this add-on, players are free to create their avatar, and they can team up with other players to complete quests. "Comrades" was released on Nov. 15.

Although Square Enix has confirmed a 2018 release, there is no specific launch date for Episode Ardyn yet.
