'Final Fantasy XV' release date rumors: Screenshots provide new look into the world inside the game

New screenshots recently released for "Final Fantasy XV" are giving fans a better look at some of the places they can look forward to visiting once the game is ready.

The first screenshot gives fans a look at the city of Lestallum inside "Final Fantasy XV." At first glance, Lestallum appears lively and teeming with life just like many of the other major cities that have been part of previous "Final Fantasy" titles. If Lestallum looks a little bit familiar, then that is because the fictional city has been based on some of the locales within the country of Cuba.

Traveling is a big part of any "Final Fantasy" game, and the same holds true for the upcoming title. In the second screenshot, players are able to see what it supposedly looks like when they travel from town to town. The screenshot shows Noctis and friends as they drive peacefully along what looks like a particularly scenic road within the world of "Final Fantasy XV."

The last of the three newly-released screenshots gives fans a closer look at what it may be like inside one of the dungeons in "Final Fantasy XV." In the screenshot, a dungeon named Ido is shown playing host to two of the game's main characters, according to Polygon. Ido itself looks to be shrouded mostly in darkness, save for some fortunately placed lighting fixtures, and it is somewhat reminiscent of sewer-themed levels that have been present in earlier "Final Fantasy" titles.

In related news, Gamespot has reported that "Final Fantasy XV" will in all likelihood be released in 2016.

In a brief interview with the video gaming website, "Final Fantasy XV" Director Hajime Tabata said that the game will be coming out before 2017, and added that it also won't be released this year.

More news about "Final Fantasy XV" is expected to be released before the end of August.
