'Five Nights at Freddy's 4' release date next month: What you should know
The first "Friday Nights at Freddy's" game was launched last year, with the succeeding second and third installments released over the past few months. Early this year, game developer Scott Cawthon confirmed that the final chapter in the successful indie horror and survival game series, "Five Nights at Freddy's 4," will be launched on Halloween.
However, it seems that the release date is going to be changed – and for the better, at least for die-hard "Five Nights at Freddy's" players. Instead of Oct. 31, Cawthon and Scott Games are planning to release the title at an earlier date.
According to game observer 8-bit Gaming, which also serves as news and info streamer for the franchise, Cawthon sent an e-mail detailing the date change. According to the message, Cawthon planned on the Aug. 8 date to coincide and celebrate the first year anniversary of the release of "Five Nights at Freddy's." The game developer also added that players and hardcore fans alike can still look forward to the Oct. 31 date – for special content and free update.
Cawthon wrote on the email, "To keep the Halloween date special however, I'll be working on a free update with extra content to release October 31st."
He has also posted the official video trailer for the upcoming title.
"Five Nights at Freddy's 4" is already confirmed as the final installment in the series. Although no details have been revealed on its story and gameplay, observers note that the final chapter could be a prequel due to some of the image teasers that Cawthon had released in previous weeks. Others, however, have noted that "Five Night's at Freddy's 4" could focus on an entirely new set of circumstances, based on the recently-released trailer and a different take on the teaser images.
