Floyd Mayweather is wanted by top contenders who aim to be the No. 1 pound-for-pound boxer's next opponent in probably the last fight of his career this September and one challenger believes a bout against the welterweight champion will be announced soon, but Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe said it will be the unbeaten boxer calling the shots for his next match.

The challenger that said a fight with Mayweather might be announced soon is British slugger Amir Khan who thought beating Chris Algieri last month inched him closer to his much anticipated bout.

In a report by Sky Sports, Khan believes a deal to fight Mayweather will be accomplished in less than two weeks.

The 28-year-old shared that he had a heated exchange over the phone with Floyd Mayweather Sr. and added that he is "getting under the skin" of the undefeated American's camp.

Khan also signed with Mayweather's management and promotional team led by Al Haymon and is optimistic that it will speed up the process of a fight against Mayweather, Sky Sports added.

But Ellerbe is saying otherwise as he said Mayweather will be the one deciding who, when and where to fight.

"He said he wants to go in September and I haven't heard any different. But we haven't had a conversation about it. There are a number of good fighters out there all vying for a shot at the king of the hill," Ellerbe told Mlive.com.

"Floyd will determine who he fights and when he fights and no one will rush his decision. He'll make up his mind who he's fighting, if he's fighting, and we'll go from there," he added.

Khan is strongly being considered as Mayweather's next opponent but he has been linked to fighting him before and was already denied thrice.

A rematch with Manny Pacquiao or a clash against the undefeated Kell Brook are also options for Mayweather's camp.

Recently, the unbeaten Keith Thurman also expressed his desire to take on Mayweather.
