Floyd Mayweather vs Amir Khan fight 2015 news update: Dubai batting to host September fight

As expected, Amir Khan won over Chris Algieri last Friday, possibly setting the stage for a September bout between the British boxer and the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Though nothing has been made official regarding a Mayweather vs. Khan match, the belief that should it happen, it will be made in the United States. But what if the UAE makes a go at possibly hosting a match which could possibly be Mayweather's last in his storied career? Will Floyd bite?

Khan has a strong following in Dubai and hence hosting the fight could happen. However it would all depend on whether Mayweather would agree to fight there considering he may want to end his career (or at least as some believe) right in his own turf?

Money shouldn't be a problem but the final prognosis here is that it will all be up to Mayweather.

The undefeated boxer has been known to want to call the shots, something many had witnessed leading to his May 2 fight against Manny Pacquiao.

Despite constant announcements from various sources which include the Pacquiao, it remains that Mayweather wants to be the one to announce the fight and where it will take place.

Hence, if the UAE is serious in hosting the potential fight, it may want to meet with Mayweather and company and try to make a pitch at possibly hosting the fight. And if they do, the organizers and promoters may need to move heaven and earth to convince Mayweather to fight outside the US.

Regardless, the first thing that needs to be done is to confirm that Khan and Mayweather will get it on this December.

Khan had earlier revealed that he had been approached by Mayweather's manager after Floyd won via unanimous decision over Manny Pacquiao.

Mayweather plans to retire after September where a win would allow him to equalize the record of Rocky Marciano at 49-0.

But many believe that Mayweather could fight again in 2016 once Pacquiao is up and ready. Talks are reportedly underway but nothing has been confirmed nor made official.

Hence, all focus right now is on the September fight and Khan seems to be the looming opponent as no other names have floated thus far.
