Kendall Jenner has been named as the highest-paid model for this year, dethroning Brazilian model Gisele Bundchen.

The 2017 Highest-Paid Model list revealed by Forbes was a shocker, as Jenner came out on top, the first new name since 2002, or the year when Bundchen had started reigning supreme. The "Keeping Up With The Kardashian" star was catapulted to the No. 1 spot probably because of her contracts and deals with big brands like Adidas, Estee Lauder, and La Perla, earning her a whopping $22 million.

The 22-year-old model also reportedly owes it to her massive following in social media, with her Instagram account having 85 million followers, a number that could have prompted deals. Forbes also cited her clothing line, Kendall + Kylie, which she shares with sister, makeup mogul Kylie.

Coming in second is the newly-toppled model, Bundchen, with $17.5 million. The amount was credited to her endorsements with Carolina Herrera and Arezzo, Brazilian brands of perfumes and shoes. Her earnings this year are considerably lower compared to last year's, with a 43 percent drop from $30.5 million.

Meanwhile, another headliner is the model who landed in third place, "All of Me" singer John Legend's wife, 31-year-old Chrissy Teigen. This is Teigen's first time to be included on the list, and her high spot is likely because of her endorsements with Vita Coco and Smirnoff.

Social media superstars, apart from Jenner, also made it to the top 10. Sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid are ranked fifth and ninth respectively. The girlfriend of singer Zayn Malik got $9.5 million, while the ex of "Starboy" singer The Weeknd earned $6 million, thanks to her deals with major brands like Nike and Dior.

The scoring was held from June 2016 to June this year, with Forbes computing earnings of the models before taxes.
