The upcoming brand new survival horror video game "Friday the 13th: The Game" has officially been announced to be delayed until 2017. The announcement was made by the game's developer Gun Media, who also explained their decision to delay the game's release. The developer revealed that they actually wanted to add more content to the base game, which will include a new single-player mode and offline artificial intelligence (AI) bots.

Gun Media had posted the delay notice on the game's official Kickstarter page, in which the company also detailed the different things they would be adding to the originally planned game.

"The first thing people are going to read here is delay. We want everyone to be assured that coming to our decision to delay was no easy matter, but we believe that the positives far outweigh the negatives. We've been reading day in and day out on our social media feeds that single player and Tommy Jarvis were in such a demand that we couldn't ignore our fans," the studio's head Wes Keltner said on Kickstarter.

The post also mentions that the game is now planned to be released in spring 2017 instead of the originally planned 2016 release date. However, those who had made pledges to the campaign and those who had already pre-ordered the game will be able to get access to the game's beta which is scheduled to take place within the year.

The developer also announced that it will be adding a brand new single-player mode with the character Tommy Jarvis as the main protagonist. A third map — which will still be set in Packanack Lodge — will apparently also be added to the game.

"Friday the 13th: The Game" has so far already surpassed its original Kickstarter campaign goal of $700,000 and has now met its stretch goal of $1.625 million for the game's single-player campaign.
