Samsung's Galaxy S6 tag team, which comprises up of the regular Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge is about to have another model added to that list, Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. The only difference separating Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and the earlier released Galaxy S6 duo is that the former will feature a 5.7 inch screen size.

Apart from that, the remainder of the hardware configuration will remain constant between Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. While Samsung has not confirmed the following, it is possible that the South Korean firm incorporates a larger battery due to the device's expected screen size. Currently, Galaxy S6 features a 2,600 mAh battery, which is far too low a battery pack to be present in a device that is a flagship offering of the company.

Samsung will be planning to unveil the smartphone during the month of August, which is exactly one month before the company is expected to officially announce its Galaxy Note 5 phablet. The reason why Samsung has reverted to release a large screen variant of Galaxy S6 Edge is because this particular model has garnered sufficient amounts of revenue for the company. According to Sam Mobile, Counterpoint Research have stated the following sales results for both members of the Galaxy S6 family.

Galaxy S6

  • Total units shipped: 7.3 million
  • Total units sold: 3.3 million

Galaxy S6 Edge

  • Total units shipped: 3.4 million
  • Total units sold: 2.8 million

Even though Galaxy S6 Edge units were shipped far less compared to the regular version, the smartphone has become a favorite amongst consumers, which no doubt prompted Samsung to reach to the conclusion that another handset should be made.

Additional details concerning the smartphone will be made available once the device has been officially announced by the company.
