'Game of Thrones' season 5 spoilers: Actor hints at scene more shocking than The Red Wedding

Game of Thrones season 5HBO

"Game of Thrones" is no stranger to suddenly killing off main characters, as was seen in the season 1 penultimate episode that killed off Sean Bean's character Lord Eddard Stark and in season 3's "The Red Wedding" that effectively killed more than a dozen important characters. A new report hints that season 5 is set to top all this.

According to a report by the Independent, actor Liam Cunningham, who portrays Ser Davos Seaworth in the series, stated that season 5 has something ready that is gong to make the "Red Wedding" look "lame" in comparison. The report states that the actor could not believe what the showrunners had planned for the show the first time he read the script.

During an interview with the Sky Atlantic show, the actor stated, "It's towards the end of the season and when I got the scripts, when I got to this particular section, I went: 'You've gotta be kidding me.'"

The actor continued to explain that it was hard to bid farewell to fellow actors who had to leave once their characters were killed off.

He explained, "There are deaths every year, so I'm not giving anything away saying it's horrific when you've spent time with people and then they're gone."

"The Red Wedding" was one of the most shocking scenes in TV history. Several main characters were killed with gruesome detail, including the bloody stabbing of a pregnant princess. How season 5 plans on topping that has yet to be seen.

It is also unlikely that the described scene in season 5 will be spoiled by fans of the books on which the series is based. According to author George R. R. Martin in a previous interview with the Independent, there will be characters dying in the show but are still alive in the books. This will give the series an extra element of surprise since no one will anticipate what's going to happen next.
