'Game of Thrones' season 7 spoilers: Will Sansa betray Jon Snow for the leadership of the North?

The Starks Sansa and Jon SnowHBO

The House of Stark may be in danger when "Game of Thrones" returns for season 7, especially if Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) opts to betray her half-brother Jon Snow (Kit Harington).

The Starks were reunited in season 6 after Sansa made her way to the Wall to tell him about the situation in the North, particularly in Winterfell. Together, the two managed to win the war against the ruthless Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon) and reinstate themselves to lead the North.

But towards the end of the previous season, Sansa and Petyr Baelish (Aidan Gillen) seemed to have shared a suspicious look when the men of the North appointed Jon as their new king. Does it mean that Sansa will conspire with Littlefinger to overturn Jon's rule?

During the 2016 San Diego Comic Con, Turner told E! News that she would be excited to lead the North as long as Sansa does not have to betray Jon.

"From my perspective, I want her and Jon to kind of rule together because it worked in the first instance in the Battle of the Bastards, things went pretty smoothly," the actress said. However, Turner admitted that her ideal leadership could just be a wishful thinking, since a harmonious leadership within families is very rare in Westeros. "I would want them to kind of rule as a duo, but I don't think that's going to happen because it's Game of Thrones and nothing good ever happens on Game of Thrones," she added.

Jon's reign in the North could also be cut short if the truth about his real parentage will be revealed. During the season 6 finale, his half-brother Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) discovered as the new Three-Eyed Raven that Jon is not Ned Stark's (Sean Bean) son. Instead, he turned out to be the secret offspring of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen. This could prompt the new Queen of Seven Kingdoms Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) to have him killed, since Jon is a clear descendant of the Targaryen throne.

"Game of Thrones" season 7 is believed to premiere in the summer of 2017.
