'Game of Thrones' season 8 release date, plot spoilers: Bran's full circle and the possible return of Meera

Isaac Hempstead-Wright plays Bran Stark in HBO's "Game of Thrones."

Season 8 of "Game of Thrones" is shaping up to be a season of coming full circle for some of its characters and Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) is no exception.

One of the theories fueling the fan chatter is that when the Three-Eyed Raven uttered his last words to the youngest living Stark, it was not just for Bran to take on his supernatural abilities. A lot of them believe that this could be Bran's future self who has travelled through time and space to give the Bran of this timeline his training.

The 18-year-old said in an interview with TIME that he "like the idea" and it allows his character to come full circle as both Bran and the Three-Eyed Raven. The actor added that the idea is very deterministic, paradoxical and is driven by destiny where an old man goes back in time to tell his younger self and travel to the north.

However, Hempstead-Wright noted that following this theory renders Bran's future with a lot of uncertainty as his older self will be there to guide, thereby changing things that could come to pass. The actor shared that one of his favorite things to do is to talk to fans about their theories about each character's role.

Elsewhere, it seems that another character close to Bran is open to returning for the next season of the HBO fantasy show. Ellie Kendrick, who plays Meera, told MetroUK that she's still not sure of her status on the show going to its eight season.

Kendrick said that she genuinely doesn't know her status since she has always been asked about when she will return. She added that she is just waiting for the phone to ring and for her to be asked to report on the set.

It would be remembered that in season 7, Meera begrudgingly left Bran's side after being released from the latter's servitude with a mere thank you.

"Game of Thrones" season 8 is expected to return in 2019.
