Melissa McCarthy has personally confirmed her inclusion in the highly anticipated "Gilmore Girls" revival. The "Spy" star will be back as Sookie St. James in the Netflix reboot.

The actress announced her return as the bubbly and quirky chef during her appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," where she explained how they got through the scheduling conflicts for her to be part of the "Gilmore Girls" revival.

"We could not get those schedules to work and there was a whole thing and then I was going to be out of the country and blah blah blah and literally about an hour-and-a-half ago we figured out that I'm going go back and do it," McCarthy said.

McCarthy is as thrilled as the fans of the show to star in the "Gilmore Girls" revival. McCarthy believes that it is going to be "amazing." "[Gilmore Girls creator] Amy Sherman-Palladino's going to squeeze me in to do it, and I'm very happy to go back to Stars Hollow."

At the moment, the extent of McCarthy's role in the "Gilmore Girls" revival is unknown. In the original, she was Lorelai's best friend. She was a supporting character in the popular comedy-drama.

The "Gilmore Girls" revival will take the form of four 90-minute episodes. Co-writer and co-director Daniel Palladino thinks that these episodes may or may not be the last of Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel), but he emphasizes he is just glad that the show is back.

"We just never say never," he told Entertainment Weekly. "We don't know if this is the ending because we never thought 'Gilmore Girls' would come back in any form. But it's a new world out there and there are new ways to experience things," Palladino added.

The "Gilmore Girls" revival has no premiere yet but the stars, including Graham, Bledel and Emily Bishop, who plays Emily Gilmore, will start filming the episodes in mid-May.
