High school will be challenging to Riley and friends but it won't destroy what they have in "Girl Meets World" season 3.Disney Channel

"Girl Meets World" season 3 takes Riley (Rowan Blanchard), Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) and the rest of the crew to high school, which will make middle school look like a walk in the park.

While there will be new challenges and problems that will put their friendship to the test, Carpenter revealed to Entertainment Tonight (via Yahoo) that the closeness that binds Maya's squad will not be fazed by anything high school throws at them in "Girl Meets World" season 3.

The young actress said that in "Girl Meets World" season 3, the circle of friends will be bigger. "Their group of four friends has kind of turned into a group of six very, very strong friends," Carpenter said.

The starlet was referring to her character, Riley, Lucas (Peyton Meyer), Farkle (Corey Fogelmanis), Smackle (Cecilia Balagot) and Zay (Amir Mitchell-Townes), describing them as "perfect dynamic of friends."

Carpenter adds that filming "Girl Meets World" season 3 "doesn't even feel like work" because they have so much fun on set, which makes the dynamic of friendship natural onscreen as well.

According to ET, the source of the group's trouble in high school has something to do with Cory (Ben Savage), who is actually a teacher at the school. It remains to be seen how it affects the group directly.

Apart from a role on camera, Savage also worked behind the scenes as the director of the new opening sequence of "Girl Meets World" season 3, which is basically a recreation of the opening themes of the show's parent series "Boy Meets World" where Savage was the lead.

"Not many people can say that they go back to their childhood. But I get to do that every day now. The whole day [shooting this] has been like deja vu to me and it means a lot to us," Savage said in a behind-the-scenes video of the opening title shoot.

"Girl Meets World" season 3 premieres in a two-part special titled "Girl Meets High School." The first part airs Friday, June 3 at 8:30 p.m. ET and the second part airs Sunday, June 5 at 8:30pm ET as well.

On the latter, "Mike and Molly" alum Billy Gardell will star as football coach Bobby Campagnola, who may be the key to Lucas and Zay becoming football players.
