Global Call to Prayer for at risk children

Viva is inviting the global Christian community to take part in its World Weekend of Prayer for children at risk from June 6 to 7.

Millions of people are expected to take part in the prayer initiative, now in its 14th year. They will pray that children around the world will come to know the love of Jesus in their everyday lives and accept God's offer of abundant life.

In 2008, over three million people in 87 countries took part, praying an estimated 5.5 million hours of prayer. Most of the prayers were offered by children taking part.

The focus of this year's prayer material is the promise of life in John 10:10 and what that looks like in the wider context of children at risk in the world today.

"When we pray for children at risk we can often feel overwhelmed by details and statistics. Over the last few years of mobilising prayer for children at risk, Viva has become increasingly aware of the amazing response from the body of Christ, making a huge difference in the lives of children," said the network.

The Oxford-based Christian charity has produced an Abundant Life prayer booklet for use over the weekend, containing imaginative ideas for interactive intercession and ways to get people engaged in prayer.
