The new installment of popular action adventure video game "God of War" will not be released until next year, but Sony has released another trailer for the title. This time, the preview shows the game's new father-son dynamic and how it applies to actual gameplay and fight scenes.

The company unveiled the trailer during the recently concluded Paris Games Week, where it showcased an array of its upcoming games. It shows how the game will manage its new gameplay that involves the protagonist Kratos and his young son Atreus.

The trailer begins with Kratos and his son in a cave looking at a giant stone monster. Atreus warns his father that the monster is a soul eater. Kratos observes that the monster does not attack and so decides to just wait until the giant leaves, instead of risking a fight against a soul eater.

This scene hints one of the major changes to the protagonist's character now that he has a child to take care of and protect. In the past, Kratos would have charged into battle and kill everything in his path. Now that he has his son in tow, he picks his battles carefully.

Still, the trailer shows the father and son tandem in action, with some crowd clearing combat that makes the game very exciting. Kratos uses his axe to deal heavy damage in a wide area in front of him, and does a move where he pounds the ground, dealing damage to a wide radius. He also throws his axe to deal with foes at a distance, and is very much willing to take enemies on in hand-to-hand combat.

All the while, Atreus helps his father set up is attacks. He also shouts warnings about where enemies are, as well as other points of interest in the map.

"God of War" is set to be released for PlayStation 4 in the first quarter of 2018.
