Google has already made it known the company is currently developing installments for its Pixel smartphone series. Recent leaks, however, suggest the tech giant is not only working on two but three Pixel units.

According to reports, a few tech publications have uncovered new references from the company's Android Open Source Platform. Three code names have been discovered, which has led to the speculation on three upcoming Pixel phones. The code names are muskie, walleye, and taimen. Tech enthusiasts who have been following Google devices through the years may find this familiar.

Google's penchant for using fish or aquatic mammals as code names has been around since 2012. To note, the code name assigned to a device pertains to its size. For instance, the 4.7-inch Nexus 4 was given the code name Mako, while the larger Nexus 5, which has a 5-inch display, is dubbed the hammerhead. In 2014, Google launched a massive 6-inch Nexus 6 that was appropriately called Shamu.

Reports reveal the Pixel smartphone dubbed as walleye could weigh up to 11 kg or 24 lbs. The muskies could reach up to 17 kg or 38 lbs. Meanwhile, the taimen is the largest, weighing up to 100 kg or 220 lbs. Reports believe the alleged third Pixel device could be a tablet. It almost certainly is not a laptop because if it were, the device would have no need for a Snapdragon chip.

The company will be providing top-of-the-line features for its upcoming smartphones. The devices will, reports say, be powered by a Snapdragon 835, the same chip powering Samsung's latest flagship installment, the Galaxy S8. Based on the leaks, Google does not seem to be gearing up for budget phones.
