Nexus devices are first to get a taste of the Android 5.1 Lollipop build recently rolled out by Google. The Nexus 5, the Nexus 10, and the Nexus 7 2012 Wi-Fi edition will be donning the update, along with its wealth of bug fixes and awesome new features and enhancements, before any other eligible Android device. But it sure won't be long before the rest of the Nexus gang, and eventually the Android community, gets hold of it. 

Users will be pleased to know that the operating system is bringing in a feature called Device Protection. With the use of a Google account, this will be helpful to users who misplace or get their phone stolen. Much like the Activation Lock in iOS, Device Protection will foil pickpockets' mischief and deny unauthorized access to the handset, with knowledge of the Google account as the only key. 

There is also newfound dual-SIM support for smartphones like the prevailing Android One devices that have two SIM slots. Android 5.1 Lollipop also offers high-definition voice calling for the Nexus 6 and other devices that support the feature. 

Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 devices are also bound to get the update soon. T-Mobile, on the other hand, moves fast in rolling it out to the Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 2013 edition over the air. While users still await the arrival of the Android 5.0 Lollipop (it is said that the original build has only reached 3 percent of Android devices to date since its first rollout in November), it is only a matter of time before the newer 5.1 Lollipop build drops at the fingertips of every owner of Android Lollipop-capable devices.
