The season 2 premiere of "Gotham" is only two weeks away, and Fox recently let fans have a sneak peek at what's to come in the first episode.

In a teaser trailer posted on Hypable, six convicts wearing prison stripes are strapped to individual metal frames following their release from Arkham. Among them are Barbara (Erin Richards), Jerome, and Richard Sionis. A well-dressed man followed by a leather-clad woman walk in, and the man introduces himself as Theo Galavan (James Frain) and his sister, Tabitha (Jessica Lucas).

"I understand you're confused, scared, a little groggy, but please, relax," says Theo. "Today is the first day of a wonderful future for all of you. The world sees criminal lunatics. I see brilliance. I see charisma, and power."

Theo says that they've been selected for their unique abilities, but Barbara says that she doesn't have anything special — she just has issues. Theo thinks that she does, as she is ferocious, beautiful, and powerful. Barbara demonstrated these qualities last season when she murdered her parents.

It looks like a new team of villains is being assembled by the Galavans, and Jim Gordon (Ben Mackenzie) will certainly have his hands full in the new season. Although Gordon won't be worrying about Fish Mooney anymore, Penguin has risen up and is now reigning over Gotham. Add the new villains to the mix and Gordon will certainly be working round the clock to help keep the citizens of Gotham safe.

Fortunately, Gordon won't be alone as Captain Nathaniel Barnes (Michael Chiklis) will be joining Gotham's police force, and he is described as someone "who lands on the GCPD like a tornado, ripping out the dead wood of Gotham's police force." According to Entertainment Weekly, Barnes will act as a mentor to Gordon, but his black and white views on the law may one day make him a formidable enemy.

"Gotham" season 2 premieres on Sept. 21 at 8 p.m. on Fox.
