'Gotham' season 3 cast, villains: Joker coming back? New villains to be introduced

Fox TV

A lot of fans are still waiting for more details about the third season of "Gotham." After all, it is expected for more villains to rise up in this season.

According to Cross Map, fans have been wanting to see the return of the Joker (Jonathan Monaghan). However, it seems that this iconic Batman villain is not resurrected just yet, based on the second season of this series. Regardless, fans are still excited to see whether or not he will return in the third season.

Resurrecting the Joker seems to be a good choice for the third season; he is still one of the most compelling villains in whichever Batman story he is put in. Also, the fact that the Joker has always had a varying story in terms of how he got his facial scars is interesting, and it seems that this time, the resurrection will make sense of this.

According to TV Line, executive producer John Stephens said that the third season will feature a new set of villains. This includes the Mad Hatter as well as a young female villain only known to entrap men with the use of her sexuality. The latter is speculated to be Poison Ivy, another iconic Batman villain.

Also, Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) has been resurrected as well and seems to have developed some strange powers resulting from it. As such, she returns as a more intimidating villain, possibly in conjuction with the introduction of the Mutants from the "Dark Knight" to be introduced in the next chapter, as reported by Game N Guide.

The third season of "Gotham" will air on Sept. 19 on FOX.
