The American crime drama television series by Fox "Gotham" is gearing up for an intense season with the villains coming together to wreak havoc in Gotham City for the second half of this season. Audiences will be seeing the city's most fearsome and familiar criminals whose numbers may overwhelm the protectors of the city.

According to reports, the villains have decideed to set aside their own selfish ambitions to conquer Gotham City. This will mark the first time for the city's worst criminals to team up for a common purpose -- to take over the city. Specifically, the villains who will be responsible for the team-up are Oswald Cobblepot, played by Robin Lord Taylor, and Jerome Valeska, played by Cameron Monaghan.

David Mazouz, who plays Bruce Wayne, explains that these villains will be responsible for 11 episodes of terrorism in Gotham, which will eventually force the show's protagonists to set aside their own personal differences in order to have a fighting chance against all the criminals that they will be up against. In addition to that, the good guys will be largely outnumbered, which makes the cooperation between the characters much more imperative.

The villains working together have been described to be somewhat like a "Justice League of Villains," which is definitely apt. Although Valeska and Cobblepot, or better known as The Penguin, have been revealed to be teaming up, Monaghan posted a comic book image on his Twitter page with most of Batman's most formidable foes in it. This could mean that more iconic villains may just surface in the coming episodes.

It is still unclear, however, if the daughter of Gotham's most powerful mob family boss, Sofia Falcone, played by Crystal Reed, will be siding with the villains or not, especially since she is considered to be a very unpredictable and volatile character. Jim Gordon, who is played by Ben McKenzie, will definitely have his work cut out for him for the remainder of the season.

"Gotham" season 4 airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.
