'GTA 6' rumors: Game so massive it will not be released soon

Rockstar Games Newswire

The "Grand Theft Auto" franchise from Rockstar Games is undoubtedly one of the most massive titles currently out. Aside from the global scale of its online component in "Grand Theft Auto V," the story lines and locations of its previous main titles have been so huge that the developer takes at least three to five years to develop and plan for the next release.

The same also seems true for the next "Grand Theft Auto" installment, as speculations place the sixth main story title to be out no earlier than 2017 and might even stretch to 2018.

According to NeuroGadget, although the developers might already be hard at work on "Grand Theft Auto VI," fans should not expect concrete details about the title, particularly its release, for at least the next two years. With Rockstar Games continuing its updates for "GTA V" as well as the "GTA Online" title, the upcoming game will definitely be still far in the horizon. While the developer might have dedicated teams working on the title, the scale of "GTA VI" might be causing the long-delayed release.

Meanwhile, aside from the massive scale in terms of plot, location, and characters, quality is also a factor in the development of the next title. According to Cinema Blend, successful franchises like "GTA" and "Assassin's Creed" do not get huge not just because they started early in the gaming industry but also because of how each title also evolves in terms of quality in design and gameplay.

As there is a vast difference between the first "GTA" titles and the current one, it can be said that the quality will also vastly improve with "GTA VI," with talks of a next Sony or Xbox platform floating online, plus the advent of virtual and augmented reality gaming. Rockstar Games might be taking these ideas into account while developing the next "GTA" iteration.
