Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Arizona's (Jessica Capshaw) legal battle for full custody of their daughter continues in the next episode of "Grey's Anatomy" season 12.

Ever since Callie revealed her plans of moving to New York City with her new girlfriend Penny (Samantha Sloyan) and taking their daughter, Sophia, with them, Arizona felt the need to file a full custody case to prevent her ex-wife from keeping their child away from her. This further severed the ties between the former couple.

Based on the trailer for the upcoming episode, titled "Mama Tried," Callie and Arizona each will prove to the court that they should get the full legal custody of Sophia. But how will they react once the court makes its decision?

Meanwhile, the episode will also center on the complicated relationship between Stephanie (Jerrika Hinton) and Kyle (Wilmer Valderrama).

In the previous episode, Stephanie decided to break up with her MS-stricken boyfriend in a letter. Hinton revealed via an interview with TVLine that she initially thought Stephanie's decision to cut ties with Kyle using a note is a horrible idea, and said that she had to call the writers to oppose.

However, she eventually agreed with the writers because she realized the nature of her character in the long-running medical drama series.

"Stephanie runs away from her feelings," the actress admitted. "She does not like to confront the source of anything emotionally gooey. We saw it after the Jackson and April thing, the way she kept avoiding Jackson in the hospital... She's the kind of person that likes to shut things off. She has these switches inside her and she is more likely in times of discomfort to power that piece of her down. It's a survival instinct."

But in the upcoming episode, Stephanie will have to go through the current status of her relationship with Kyle.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 12 episode 22 airs on Thursday, May 5, on ABC.
