'Grimm' season 5 plot spoilers: Has Juliette met her demise?

NBC

"Grimm" season 4 left viewers guessing. Juliette's fate is still unknown and the showrunners won't reveal it just yet. What they emphasized though is the ominous notion that no one is safe and that anyone can die regardless of their significance in the story or their period of participation in it.

"I think it keeps everyone on edge. You don't know what's going to happen," showrunner Jim Kouf told Zap2it about Juliette's apparent death in the season 4 finale of "Grimm," adding that "if everything is expected, I think you lose your audience a little bit because they see what's coming."

His co-showrunner David Greenwalt added that the show would not be all for a tie-the-knot kind of ending.

"Anything could happen. It seems like a few shows, episode whatever, they get married or they finally get together. We decided to go a different way," Greenwalt said.

The "Grimm" showrunners, when asked about Betsie Tulloch's (who plays Juliette) return for the new season, told Zap2it, "possibly not." This, of course, worries fans that Juliette's fate in the series is to die in the hands of Trubel and at the orders of her former lover.

Juliette's death, Greenwalt explained, was to be expected and that it just "had to happen." This, in turn, adds weight to Nick's burden brought about by the multiple problems he has to deal with, particularly that of being the father to Adalind's baby and the responsibilities that go with that.

Meanwhile, "Grimm" fans are also chewing over what's in store for Juliette now that Agent Chavez (who seems to be in cohorts with Trubel) wants her taken. This, according to the showrunners, will be the driving force of the events in season 5 of the series.

It will be a grueling wait to see what's next for the characters especially when there is no way of knowing what direction "Grimm" will take to determine their future.

"Grimm" season 5 will be air in February with the same Friday timeslot.
