Nick's (David Giuntoli) partnership with Hank (Russell Hornsby) will be tested in the upcoming episode of NBC's procedural fantasy series "Grimm."

During the 2015 Comic-Con, Hornsby revealed that the relationship between the two would be filled with tension, as Nick deals with the loss of his loved ones. Viewers would recall that his girlfriend Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) died after taking two shots of the arrow from Trubel (Jacqueline Toboni) last season. Nick was supposed to avenge the death of his mother Kessley (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio), but found that he was unable to, prompting Trubel to do the deed.

TV Equals reports that according to the actor, the tragic loss of his mother and girlfriend will put Nick in a dark state. This, in turn, will affect his work, as well as his partnership with Hank. Hornsby also said that the trauma will force Nick to take more risk and take on projects on his own.

"When you look at what he's lost up to this point, I think there's a lot more at stake then there was even in the first season. When you lose your aunt who didn't know, it doesn't really set off the same amount of emotions as it does as losing your girlfriend and your mother, whom you've fought side by side with," he explained.

Meanwhile, Nick also has to deal with Adalind's (Claire Coffee) unexpected pregnancy. Master Herald reports that the baby will be playing an important role in their lives, especially as there will be complications during his birth. Nick will also find himself drawing strength from Adalind, as they work together to protect their child.

Executive producer Jim Kouf told TV Insider that Nick will make it to the hospital just in time for the baby's birth. He will be dismayed to find, however, that something would go wrong with the procedure and Adalind's life would be in danger.

"Grimm" season 5 will premiere Oct. 30 on NBC.
