"Grimm" season 6 will be the last for the police procedural fantasy television drama of NBC, and in contrast to its previous seasons, which started in October, it will premiere in January next year.

An announcement was made on the show's Twitter account, where it says, "Prepare for #AGrimmFarewell as the sixth and final season of #Grimm premieres January 6 at 8/7c."

Jacqueline Toboni, who plays Thereas Rubel or Trubel, also tweeted, "After reading a few S6 scripts I can promise that it will be a helluva last season Thank you to all Grimmsters that have stuck w/ us!"

"Grimm" season 6 will only have 13 episodes, compared to the usual 22, and is said to feature a darker and fiercer Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli.).

Variety added the season finale of the series will be focusing on the last battle between Nick and Capt. Renard (Sasha Roiz). The Black Claw has been annihilated and there is nothing more to defeat except Renard, who is now the elected mayor of Portland. Nick will now protect his city as well as Adalind (Claire Coffee).

Season 6 will also show Eve (Bitsie Tulloch) facing a dilemma about her other identity as it tries to haunt her down. While Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) and Rosalee (Bree Turner) will be more worried than before as they welcome their own child.

The upcoming season will continue where season 5 left off, which was a cliffhanger. Guintoli said that fans will witness what happens next without any time jump.

"It picks up the millisecond we left off; the micro-moment. We're all on the run," the actor said to Enstarz.

"Grimm" season 6 will premiere on Jan. 6, 2017 at 8/7c on NBC.
