While season 6 of the sci-fi thriller "Grimm" has yet to premiere, speculations suggest that the show may be granted another season.

According to Gamenguide, "Grimm" can already be considered as one of the most-watched series to date. Running since 2011, the show has consistently pulled in an above-average viewer base, and this reflects on the show's consistent above-average ratings. Movie News Guide places "Grimm" as one of NBC's highest-rated scripted series. The industry follower predicts that the number of viewers — expected to be consistent for the upcoming season — will be a major favor in a "Grimm" continuation all the way to season 7.

Meanwhile, the supposed events and story for season 6 may also play a factor in a "Grimm" season 7. Reportedly, while the showrunners themselves have yet to commit to a new season, the plot for "Grimm" season 6 opens up a number of events and possibilities that can be stretched all the way to a new season. Answering plot questions beyond season 6 is highly likely, since the upcoming show will air for 13 episodes, and it will be a bit of a stretch if all the events will be condensed in "Grimm" season 6. Since NBC has only renewed one season this time, "Grimm" may even go beyond TV, and become a freeform show.

The overall story for the upcoming show has yet to become official, although speculations already point out some big events happening. According to TV Line, one monster that may be listed for season 6 of the supernatural drama is Frankenstein or a similar big-name monstrosity. Meanwhile, should Frankenstein appear on the show, it is unclear if the "Grimm" creative team has in mind a complete retelling of Dr. Victor Frankenstein and his monster, or if they would get their own take on the Mary Shelley character.

"Grimm" season 6 is scheduled to premiere on Jan. 6, 2017 on NBC.
