It is no doubt that Rockstar's "Grand Theft Auto" franchise is a gaming sensation. No wonder BBC decided to bring it to television. The network is hard at work for the new feat, and is said to premiere the all-new 90-minute "GTA"- inspired TV drama on BBC Two as early as September. 

However, the news comes as a bit of a surprise for many, with them asking why BBC chose to adapt the game, which is known for its extremely violent content. But as it turns out, felony will not be the theme viewers will be seeing in the new drama but rather, the creation of it. 

"GTA offered gamers the chance to step into a fantasy world where they could behave like criminals, gun down rival gangsters and cops, hijack cars and venture deeper into an imaginary American gangland underworld," a spokesperson from BBC told Videogamer. 

"But the violent gameplay coupled with its outstanding success led to fierce opposition: from parents worried about children immersing themselves in such a violent world; from politicians, alarmed at the values it encourages; and above all from moral-campaigners, who have fought passionately to stop it," BBC added. 

U.K.-based game writer Guy Cocker, who is developing the show, tweeted that the series will follow "the making" of the video game series, which means that instead of seeing game character Lester and the gang do their usual lawbreaking deeds, viewers will be given a closer look into the happenings inside of Rockstar. They will witness how the folks there so ardently work and hone every "GTA" game to perfection. 

The creation of the drama is part of the U.K.-wide initiative called "Make it Digital" that intends to "put digital creativity in the spotlight like never before and help build the nation's digital skills" as well as inspiring "a new generation to get creative with coding, programming, and digital technology." 

Information about the "GTA" drama remains to be scanty as of now but details are sure to be given out soon.
