"Grand Theft Auto V" has become one of the most successful video games of all time, selling over 70 Million copies since it launched in 2013 for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Despite the massive success, there are still no signs of a single-player DLC planned for the game.

As reported by Forbes, the game has become one of the top five selling games of all time, just behind "Wii Sports" which sold 82.78 Million copies, "Minecraft" which sold 107.86 Million copies and "Tetris" which has sold well over 495 Million copies. The gross income "GTA V" has earned thus far is estimated to be over $4.2 Billion.

One of the mentioned reasons why the game is still successful three years after the game released is primarily because of the thriving online mode. "GTA Online" did just receive the new "Biker" DLC which saw even more vehicles, weapons, combat options and clubhouses added to the game.

However, no single-player DLC has been released yet. In comparison, "Grand Theft Auto IV" had two single-player expansions: "The Ballad of Gay Tony" and "The Lost and the Damned." "Grand Theft Auto III" saw no DLCs at the time, but it did see full spin-offs such as "GTA Vice City" and "GTA San Andreas."

Forbes further points out that if Rockstar Games and publisher Take-Two Interactive were to release a single-player DLC campaign, even for just $20, then it has the potential of earning the companies another $500 Million even if only a third of the 70 Million owners of the game went out to buy it.

A single-player DLC expansion would also be able to bring in new audiences who have not bought the game yet. Not every gamer is attracted into online modes and may want to have a more substantial single-player experience, and this kind of DLC would benefit the game.

However, with the announcement of "Red Dead Redemption 2," it is stated that a single-player DLC is now unlikely to happen.
