Developer Rockstar has finally released a patch that fixes the issues recently found in its PC version of "Grand Theft Auto V."

Recently, players have claimed that the previous patch, update 1.28 on the PC, while solving some known issues and introducing improvements to both gameplay and performance, has also caused some new glitches, particularly dropped frame rates and intermittent decrease in game performance. Some observers noted that it might have stemmed from the anti-modding features that Rockstar also included in the previous patch. 

Answering a query from a hardcore fan, Rockstar said the most recent title update, although not a major one, addresses the frame rate issues specifically. The update was also designed not to bar modders from playing, but the company did introduce some baselines for players who use game modifications.

The developer stated, "We are not actively targeting players using mods in Story Mode, nor are we explicitly implementing protections against them in-game." 

Rockstar also added that the introduction of mod-regulating features also protects players from future glitches and issues, saying, "Our primary focus is on protecting GTA Online against modifications that could give players an unfair advantage, disrupt gameplay, or cause griefing."

Rockstar has already publicly stated its position on game modding, particularly for their "Grand Theft Auto" franchise. Although they haven't banned mod players from their titles, particularly "Grand Theft Auto Online," the company has stated that modding on their "GTA" titles is still unauthorized and since the mods are not supported or tested, these gameplay changes may cause disruptions and can also make the game and servers to crash.

Rockstar has developed some anti-modding features for its titles starting with the previous "Grand Theft Auto 4." For the current game, the developer has introduced numerous patches, the most current major one being update 1.28, that integrates both anti-hacking and heavy modding options to "Grand Theft Auto V."
